Every day at Monkey Puzzle is full of new things to try. Our extra-curricular activities aren’t extras tacked onto the side they’re stitched right through the week, giving every child the chance to sing, stretch, cook, build, explore and discover.

Each session is shaped around the Early Years Foundation Stage and the Curiosity Approach, so play always has a purpose. Children build confidence, coordination, language and social skills almost without realising they’re learning. Sessions are gentle enough for our youngest babies and lively enough to keep older preschoolers fully engaged.

We work with trusted specialists qualified musical theatre teachers, yoga instructors, sports coaches and language tutors who visit each week to lead their sessions. Every child gets a turn, and every age group has something tailored to where they are.

Monday

Calming Movement Mondays

Gentle activities to settle children into the week.

Calming Movement Mondays

Calming Movement Mondays are gentle activities which help children feel calm, focused, and ready for the week ahead. Through breathing exercises, yoga, stretching and mindful movement, children are encouraged to relax their bodies, focus on their minds, and build on their confidence.

These activities also support flexibility, balance, and coordination, while promoting emotional wellbeing and self-regulation in a fun and supportive environment.

By the end of the activities, children are focused and ready to learn.

Arts, crafts and imaginative play to boost creativity and self expression.

Creative Tuesdays

Creative Tuesdays are designed to encourage creativity and self-expression in our nursery children. The day is focused around arts, crafts, music, and imaginative play, all of which help to develop fine motor skills, confidence, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Creativity is a key part of children’s development, and through the magic of play, we are encouraging children to take the lead on their learning whilst having fun – in line with the EYFS framework.

Wednesday

Spanish Wednesdays

Celebrating different cultures by exploring new languages.

Spanish Wednesdays

Spanish Wednesdays introduce children to simple Spanish words, songs, greetings, and games through fun, engaging activities. Exploring different languages is a natural and valued part of our nursery community and links closely with the EYFS framework and the Curiosity Approach. It also helps children to develop an appreciation and respect for different cultures.

Being exposed to new languages from an early age supports memory, listening skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in communication.
