Our nursery kitchen has been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 stars by the Food Standards Agency.
Our menus have been devised by a nutritionist and have won awards for healthy eating for the under-fives. We aim to provide fresh, balanced meals to all children at each meal or snack time. A choice of fresh fruit and vegetable sticks is available at snack times, morning and afternoon.
We also provide vegetarian meals on request. We can adapt our meals for children with specific allergies.
Fresh water is available to the children throughout the day and no squash is served. Older children are encouraged to help themselves from the water fountain located in the pre-school room.
Organic, whole milk is provided for the children.
Breakfast consists of a variety of non-sugared cereals and wholemeal toast.
Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks consist of breadsticks, houmous, various fruits and vegetable sticks and a choice of either organic milk or water to drink.
Lunch is always a balanced hot meal, cooked freshly on the premises by a dedicated nursery cook. We avoid processed foods.
A balanced light tea is served mid-afternoon and is designed to encourage the children to try new foods. During the winter month’s tea is usually a hot meal such as soup or baked beans on toast whilst in the warmer months cold meals such as sandwiches or vegetables and dips are served.
Our menus have been approved by a nutritionist, and are reviewed regularly with the aim of providing fresh, balanced meals to all children at each meal or snack time.
